Hockey starts tonight

With temperatures forecasted to drop below freezing for the Twin Cities next week, that must mean it’s time for AHA hockey.

The puck drops on the Spiders’ 16th AHA season Saturday night. It’s your first chance to see the 2019–20 C3 Spiders in action.

And for just the second time in the team’s history, the Spiders drop the puck on the AHA season league-wide, along with the other C3 West teams, proudly wearing custom AHA FACE OFF base layers.

The Spiders open the season against the Flying Hellfish, a team the Spiders have never played. That team went 12–6–1–1 in D1 last season, finishing not only in first place, but skating all the way to the D1 BIG dance, only to get knocked off by the Fighting Walleye 4–1. (That team is now in C3 East.)

This season, the Spiders will seek to return to their winning ways after an ever-so-slightly-less-than-stellar 2018–19 campaign, and get themselves back into the AHA post-season.

Head to the Hopkins Pavilion Saturday night, puck drops on the AHA season at 7:10 p.m.
