Same-look C3 Spiders get ready for 2013–14 AHA winter season

The 2013–14 Spiders roster is essentially unchanged from last season.

• Defenseman Rick Fritz returns from the PUP list after sitting a year out.
• Chris Pettengill, who subbed last season, has left the team.
• And, finally, Andy Schwinn switched to a sub spot.

The team captaincy remains the same following unanimous (well, one or two people’s) vote: Jeremy Litton as captain, and Eric Grotbeck and Michael Schroeder as alternates.

In all, the veteran squad of 20 hits the ice this weekend to kick off the Spiders’ 10th season in the AHA (ninth winter season; 10 including Beginner School), and will look to return to the post-season for their sixth consecutive appearance.

The Spiders will have their work cut out though, in a C3 East division that contains enough AHA hardware to tempt Phil Pritchard to change employers:

• C3 2012–13 and Fall Tourney 2013 champions (Gold Rush)
• D1 2012–13 champions (Fighting Loons)
• C3 West 2012–13 Division champions (Fighting Piranhas)
• C3 2012–13 championship runners-up (Fighting Saints)
