Spiders playoff stubble debuts tonight

It’s the Spiders first-ever appearance in the Winter Season playoffs.

The D1 Pool A #1 seed Spiders will debut their playoff beards tonight against long-time rival the Lumberjacks, the #4 seed. This season, the two teams have been matched evenly, one win, one loss and one tie. The two teams last met in early March, resulting in the Spiders’ first regulation loss of the season, and ensuring the Lumberjacks lock on a playoff berth.

As noted, the Lumberjacks’ 2007–08 playoff performance resulted in a three-and-out 0–3 record, with two shutouts at the hands of the Royals and eventual D1 champs the Nemesis.

Spiders fans should also be aware to a roster change: scratched for the entire post-season, the Spiders’ regular season assist leader Rob Droullard has been drafted to the newly formed PHL and won’t be available for the playoffs.

With the inclement weather predicted for tonight, good seats will likely remain available for the Plymouth Rink C bleachers. Puck drops at 8:45 p.m.
