Spiders claim 5–2 victory over Hooligans Green

The season is young, but the Spiders are in third place in C3 East.

A 5–2 victory over the Hooligans Green Thursday night moved the Spiders ahead of a five-way tie of C3 East middle-of-the-pack teams.

The patented Coach Grotbeck Chalk Talk is batting 1,000 this season, as are Captain Schroeder’s lineup skills.

The Thursday night Woog (Wakota) fans had barely taken their bleacher seats when it was already 2-zip for the Red and White, with Schroeder from McCormick and Kuhnly from Johnson, both Mike’s and Dave’s first of the season, and Dave’s first as a Spider.

In the second, Vandenberghe got his first of the season, from Schroeder, to put the Spiders up by the dreaded three-goal lead. The Hooligans got on the board late in the second, but Droullard scored his first of the season early in the third, from Johnson to put the Spiders up 4–1. Hooligans would score again, but the nightcap from Rich Elling, also from Schroeder for his third point of the night.

The Spiders outshot the Hooligans 31–27, including a 13–7 margin in the second. The Spiders also out-penaltied the Hooligans, including three body check tallies.
