Breaking news: Mintalar Moose are C3 champions

After losing 4–1 to the Fighting Piranhas in round 3 of C3 pool play Saturday, the Mintalar Moose beat the Piranhas 2–1 when it counted, in the title game Sunday, and take home the C3 trophy.

The Moose, a first-year AHA team, put together by former AHA Summer 2010 Whitesnakes and 2011 Fall Tournament teammates Brandon Hofer, Grant Wold and Brian Vesall, overcame the long odds, and skated away as champs for the 2011–12 season.

The team went 12–8 in the regular season, good enough for fourth place and the fourth seed in the round-robin playoffs. There, they went 2–1, losing only to the Fighting Piranhas in the final round of the round robin.
