Spiders win 4–2 against Fighting Saints at Highland

By Ryan Herman

Only one minor penalty for each team, both in 3rd period (LaCosse for roughing). Score tied 2–2 after one period, then we clamped down on D and did not give up another goal. We outshot them 27–11 (it was scorekeeper-in-training night, so the shots are probably not accurate). Also, for some reason the refs told the scorekeeper that there were no assists on any of our goals.

Scoring:

  • Flannery
  • Droullard
  • Armagost (definitely unassisted, one of his trademark end-to-ends) with a china doll celebration at the end that nearly re-injured his shoulder.
  • Flannery (the quietest celebration ever after a goal as none of us on the bench even knew the puck went in.)

Coming up

The Spiders keep their zero-losses-in-regulation streak going, improving to 12–0–2–1, and maintain their five-point advantage in the D1 East standings over the second-place Diablos.

The Fighting Saints sit at 8th place, with a 4–9–1–0 record and nine points.

Next up for the Spiders, a longer bench for a rematch with the Wolf Pack. The previous matchup resulted in a 6–2 Spiders’ victory.
