Spiders choke the chickens...Win 8–4

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na..Thunder! Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na..Thunder!

AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" blasted throughout the locker room as the Spiders laced up to avenge a heart-breaking loss to the chickens during their '08 play-off campaign. This night would be different than last April, because this night the Spiders had their enforcer, Big Jack Delsing in the line-up. Canasta Jack was mysteriously absent during last years play-off push but this time he made his presence felt. The Spiders steam-rolled the thundering fowl from the opening face-off as they peppered Kirkman with 14 first-period shots. Aaron Bedessem, playing inspired hockey, opened the scoring by dedicating his first goal to his mother in the stands. Dad didn't need to feel left out as 92 seconds later Bedessem dedicated a goal to him as well. Both tallies were assisted by Butalla. While the Spiders were winning the races to the puck, winning the battles in the corner, and severly outshooting their foes...when the horn rang it was the Chickens on top.

Our eight-legged friends could not be contained. They quickly tied the game when after a blast by T. Stalpes there was a scrum in front of the net. It may have been Lindsley, it may have been Maietta...it definately was the Spiders! Three minutes later, Canasta Jack rips one in from the top of the slot. Delsing celebrated his goal by picking up a roughing penalty. “When I only play once a month, I need to get my name on the score sheet any way I can,” Jack was overheard telling the scorekeeper. Thorson capped off the third-period scoring for the Spiders on a feed from Tromiczak.

Dow was stellar in the nets down the stretch as the Spiders continued to roll. In the third...Bedessem picked up the hat trick, Tromiczak added a pair of goals and Armogost a couple of helpers. When the bodies stopped flying and the dust settled you could hear them coughing...The Spiders had choked the chickens to remain on top of the division. Well played, gentlemen.
