In the season opener, the Spiders get off to a great start to win 10-2. The Spiders season scoring started where it left off last year, with a goal by Doug Thorson assisted by Jim Maietta. The game was neck and neck until midway thru the second period, when Captain Schliesman unleashed a cannon to beat the goalie glove side and take a Spiders 2-1 lead. 6 minutes later Bruce Gustafson puts one home for a 3-1 lead. The game continued to stay close thru 2 periods while the Spiders out shot the Dragons 31-15. In the 3rd the Spiders broke the game open with 6 more goals. Here is how it went:
Tromi from Maietta, Hilden back-to-back goals, Bortnem on the board after his roughing call (maybe he will be our new Delsing), Tromi again, Thorson again and finally Maietta.
