On a historical evening as the C2 Spiders played in their first-ever post-season game, a soft 17 in the second frame spelled doom for our arachnid friends.
In the 1st and 3rd frames, the spiders out-skated, out-shot (26-10) and out-scored (2-1) the Thunder Chickens. The only problem was that the Chickens netted 4 goals in the second period, which would prove to be enough to spoil this epic event.
Spider Scoring looked like this:
- In the first: Butalla from Gustafson and T. Stalpes
- In the second: Gus from Bortnem
- In the third: Thorson from Maietta
On a side note, we did see a hockey first. Spider #66 was called for a penalty because the opposing player was holding his stick...The official referred to it as it checking? Very strange.
Player of the game: Thunder Chicken netminder Ken Kirkman – 33 saves...Ouch!
