Spiders celebrate Groundhog Day, again

Yet another one-goal loss in front of cowbell-toting Boreal fans.

The Boreals had their home cooking Saturday night at Pleasant Arena, with cowbell-toting and sign-waving fans cheering them on.

The Spiders had lost the last Boreal matchup in a 1-zip shutout. This time, at least the Spider puck found the back of the net, once (and once found just inside).

Other than that, it was all Boreal. While the Spiders held on and kept it close, and Tejeda had to stand on his head against a 40-shot barrage, the Spiders couldn’t solve the Boreal sub goalie (T. Alexander, on loan from the first-place C3 East Black Ice, who have one loss to their name this season … against the Gold Rush).

Final score: 2–1.

Next up, the Spiders get a rematch with the last-place Bold North, at 1–11, did finally win a game in late January, a 3–2 victory over the 10th place Troopers.

The Spiders will think it’s still Groundhog Day on Saturday, as they make the road trip back to Pleasant, for a 6:40 p.m. puck drop.
