2014–15 Post-Season recap

Spider fans were of course absent from the BIG Summit beer garden during playoff weekend, with the Spiders missing the post-season for the first time in seven AHA winter seasons, having gotten an invite to the BIG dance every season since the 2008–09 championship run. Instead, 10 C3 teams battled through the usual bad ice, worse officiating, lack of sleep, and the occasional coin toss, to determine this year’s champion.
On Sunday night, the Leafs (with a Spider on the roster) lost 3–0 to the Fighting Loons dynasty, after the Leafs knocked off the top-seed Maroons in the semi-final Sunday morning. That’s three consecutive seasons with a Fighting Loons team claiming AHA hardware.
And in C2, the C2 Wingmen (also with Spiders on the roster) won 4–3 in OT over the Mastodons, for their second consecutive winter championship.

D1 results
For posterity, since some of these teams may move up to C3 next season, the D1 Lakers beat the Stars 3–2 on a three-goal third-period comeback. Congrats to former Spider Mike “Monty” Montgomery, who rebuilt the D1 Lakers from scratch, and put together a championship run to claim the D1 trophy.
