Spiders shut out by Maroons 3–0

The Spiders were kept off the scoreboard tonight in our second and final meeting with the Maroons this season. The Maroons positioned themselves well, and kept the Spiders back on defense for much of the game. What offensive chances we did have were snuffed by the strong Maroons goalkeeping.

The Spiders, however, did get two penalties tonight, both in the second period. The first came from defenseman Jeremy Litton, for hooking, er, interference (He should know...). From what he could tell though, he was clearly innocent. The second came from center Ted Samsel for hooking. From the surprised look on his face, he must’ve been innocent! The Spiders excellent PK unit did its job on both. (Duly noted: The Spiders have let in only 6 goals while on the penalty kill — which has been 35 times — this season!)

Goalie Jeff Keacher stopped 27 of 30 shots from the Maroons (and was even praised by the ref: “How’d you even see that?” he was heard saying to Jeff), and the Spiders got 17 shots on goal.
