Report: Dow cleared from IR, to play Saturday

Brian Dow

Reports from Versus Network are that Brian Dow will be re-joining the Spiders this Saturday night. This will be his first on-ice appearance with the team following a two-week stint on Injured Reserve with an undisclosed “lower body” injury. He played in one minor league game at the Schwan’s Center on Wednesday, February 11 and was cleared by team physician, Dr. Gipson, to resume practicing and play at the next Spider game.

Confidential sources close to the team have indicated that Dow was out with vericose vein removal surgery. Another source indicated that his surgery was for hip replacement. Though neither of these scenarios seem likely, our sources have been very accurate in the past.

Spider players were excited to have him back. Speaking off the record, some players were so agitated with his coaching style that they were physically unable to clear the puck from the defensive zone, thus causing the stunning loss to the Blizzard. Dow’s agent indicated that he was unavailable for comment and would continue his dryland training in preparation for Saturday night.

More details as they become available.
