2010–11 C2 Post-Season Recap

The Spiders made their third consecutive appearance in the AHA Winter playoffs. Unlike last season, where they made it all the way to the C2 Championship only to get knocked off by the surging Royals, this season a lack of scoring sealed their fate with a three-and-out pool play record.

In the first game, the Spiders clawed their way back from a 5–1 hole to put up a five-goal third period and skated away with a 6–6 tie. In the second game, the Spiders dominated the Bulls in a 4–0 shutout. And in the final game of the round-robin segment, though the Spiders controlled their own destiny for advancement if they could win or tie the Thunder Chickens Saturday. Despite an early lead, a the Thunder Chickens were able to get momentum and come back to take the game and the invite to the Saturday evening semi-final.

There, they got caught in an early April snowstorm, losing 6–3 to the Blizzard. In the other C2 semi-final, the M’s beat the Rack Attack 4–2. And in the C2 final, the M’s beat the Blizzard in a 4–3 OT shootout.
